Greenpeace activists arrested at COP 17

Durban - Seven Greenpeace campaigners were arrested on the sidelines of the UN climate conference on Monday as they protested against corporate responsibility for carbon emissions.

The six were detained as they tried to hang a banner reading "Listen to the People, not the Polluters" at a Durban hotel where a "Global Business Day", hosted by business organisations, was taking place.

The protest aimed at a so-called "Dirty Dozen" corporations which Greenpeace says are pulling political strings to stifle progress toward a global climate deal. Read more...

KZN Sustainable Energy Forum (KSEF)

The purpose of the KZN Sustainable Energy Forum (KSEF) is to facilitate the development of the sustainable energy sector in KZN through information dissemination and networking opportunities.  It is an initiative of the Durban Industry Climate Changer Partnership Project and is jointly funded by the eThekwini Energy Office and United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).

1. How do I become a member of KSEF and what does it involve?
Register here by submitting your details. No membership fees or registration costs are currently required of any KSEF member. 

Being a member of KSEF, your information will be added to the KSEF database, to which only the chair and KSEF manager has access to.    You are also able to publically advertise your organisation details on the KSEF website if you wish. 

2. What does KSEF offer me / my business / my organisation?

You will be invited to all Forum Meetings, which act as a platform where new and current SE projects in KZN are introduced, allow for questions to be raised and input made by other stakeholders and I&APs who have relevant expertise on these SE projects, identify institutional barriers to SE projects and seek to conceptualise solutions to these barriers, and foster informed discussion to contribute the most appropriate and practical implementation of these SE research projects

You will also receive notice of the most recent tenders for SE projects in KZN through eThekwini’s Energy Office. And you will also benefit from the opportunity to network with other KSEF members.

3. Where is KSEF based and when does KSEF meet?

Because KSEF is currently housed in eThekwini’s Energy Office, in Durban, most Forum Meetings are held in Durban. The Forum Meetings are open to all KSEF members and are held every quarter.
